Africa bleeding with illicit financial flows – Sagay

- By Idowu Isamotu

Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Prof. Itse Sagay, yesterday asked African leaders to join forces against corruption, saying the continent was bleeding with illicit financial flows.

He was delivering his opening remarks at the 5th African Union Day of AntiCorruption which held virtually.

Sagay, represented by PACAC Executive Secretary, Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda, urged African states to speak with one voice to ensure that IFFs and looted funds stashed in other jurisdictions were recovered and repatriated.

Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption, Sen. Suleiman Abdu Kwari, advised that a futuristic approach be adopted by anti-corruption agencies in tackling corruptionrelated issues in Africa.

Kwari said money laundering could not be avoided, especially with the amorphous nature.

He charged all anticorruption agencies to put modern technological measures in place to be a step ahead in the anti-corruption fight.
