Court remands man, 37, for allegedly defiling 11-year-old daughter

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate­s’ Court on Wednesday ordered the remand of a 37-year-old man, Musa Nurudeen, in the correction­al centre in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly defiling his 11-year-old daughter.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for alleged rape.

The Prosecutin­g Counsel, Mrs Shirley Atane, from Ekiti State Ministry of Justice, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 19, in Ado-Ekiti.

She alleged that the defendant, defiled his 11-year-old biological daughter, a JSS 1 student.

According to her, the offence contravene­s Section 357 of the Criminal Code, Cap C38, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in a correction­al centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutio­n (DPP).

The plea of the defendant was not taken.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.F. Bamidele, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correction­al facility pending issuance of legal advice.

She adjourned the case untill Aug. 11, for mention. (NAN)
