6 Super Tucano aircraft depart US for Nigeria — NAF

- By Idowu Isamotu

The Nigerian Air Force says the first batch of A-29 Super Tucano aircraft have departed the United States of America and will arrive in the country before the end of July.

NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, who disclosed this to journalists in Abuja said, the six aircraft would be leapfrogged through Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Spain and Algeria before arriving Nigeria.

Gabkwet said: “An official induction ceremony of the aircraft into the inventory of the Nigerian Air Force is already being planned at a later date in August 2021 to be announced in due course.”

Nigeria had, in February 2018, requested the 12 aircraft worth $496m from the United States to boost the ongoing fight against insecurity in the country.
