Man remanded for defiling 12-yr-old girl

A magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of a 55-year-old man, Ayinde Olukayode, at the correctional centre in the state for allegedly defiling a 12-yr-old girl.

The prosecutor, Mrs Shirley Atane, from Ekiti State Ministry of Justice, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in August 2020 in AdoEkiti.

According to her, the offence contravenes 357 of the Criminal Code Cap C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

She urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Titilayo OlaOlorun, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice.

She adjourned the case until July 27, 2021, for mention.
