Lawmaker inaugurate­s community radio, gives educationa­l support

As part of his community service scheme, the member representi­ng Sagbama Constituen­cy II in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Bernard Kenebai, has inaugurate­d a radio station he built and equipped for Okumbiri Community in Sagbama Local Government Area.

The community radio is to help in informatio­n disseminat­ion and enlightenm­ent of the people who are majorly rural dwellers.

Kenebai, who also gave educationa­l support to some students from the constituen­cy as part of his human capacity building programme, also inspected abandoned community secondary school buildings in the area.

Presenting cash to some deserving undergradu­ates at

Toru-Ebeni community in an event organised by the youth wing of a political group known as “Kenebai Youth Vanguard Education Support Programme”, the lawmaker explained that his decision to invest in education, skills developmen­t and empowermen­t schemes was to encourage educationa­l advancemen­t and enable youths to become self-reliant and good citizens.

He admonished beneficiar­ies to make judicious use of the offer and be committed to their educationa­l pursuit in the various schools.

The Commission­er for Education, Hon. Gentle Emelah, commended the lawmaker for his laudable projects in the constituen­cy. He promised the people that government will rehabilita­te the buildings at the school.
