Ganaja road work resumes as contractors mobilise to sight

-

Work on the seven kilometre Ganaja road in Lokoja has resumed after the contractors who abandoned work few months ago returned.

North Central Trust reports that the rehabilitation of the road was awarded to four contractors but work was at a snail speed drawing criticisms from residents and traders.

Our correspondent, who visited the site observed that work has been completed on the lane from Gadumu to the bridge, which used to be a nightmare to the users.

It was observed that the second Lane was blocked with road signs instructing users to divert to the newly constructed lane.

However, the terminal part of the road near Ganaja village, which is in deplorable condition and a beehive of activities by traders is still untouched.

North Central Trust also reports that while some parts of the road from Gadumu to Ganaja Gadumu have been completed the other section that leads to 200 Housing Estate is yet to be attended to.

A resident, Moses Atah, commended the federal government for ensuring that the contractors are back to site.

A commercial tricycle rider, Soko Nzukogi, appealed to the federal government to mobilise the remaining contractors to finish the construction that was started more than six months ago.

To him, vehicles plying the completed portions of the road while waiting for the completion of the other side may destroy the rehabilitated section.
