Ndah, Nwakali, Awoniyi promise to make Nigerians proud

-

Following their 100% record in the group stages of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles have promised to bring joy to over 200 million Nigerians.

Orland Pirates defender, Olisa Ndah who made his AFCON debut against Guinea Bissau on Wednesday said Nigerians should expect better performances from the team.

“I am very excited and happy for this opportunity to play for the team. The feeling was so good. We just have to keep going and pushing harder.

“Nigerians should expect improvements from us. We are happy to make them proud.

“When the coach called me to get on the pitch, I was very excited and had goose bumps. There is no good feeling like playing for one’s country.

“I will cherish this moment for a very long time. I really appreciate the coach for counting me worthy to play for Nigeria,’ he said.

In the same vein, SD Huesca midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali said the team is happy to be the only team to pick nine points from the group stages.

“We are really happy to have picked up nine points from three games. It wasn’t easy achieving this feat at the tournament. Like the coach rightly said it is game by game.

“We have one goal which is to win the tournament and I don’t think this has changed,” he noted.

Union Berlin forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, also said the target of the team is to win the Cup for the unity of the country.

“Every point is important to help improve our confidence. For us, it is to take the games step by step. Now we are getting into the tournament proper. We have to put everything into it and go all the way.

“It’s all about the unity of the country. We are here together as a team to represent one nation. The target is the Cup and hopefully we can deliver it in Cameroon,” he declared.
