Open letter to Bauchi State governor

-

Your Excellency, I wish to bring to your notice the serious situation of Azare General Hospital for your consideration. Sir, this state-owned hospital has been suffering serious setbacks for almost one year, which I believe you are not aware of.

Firstly sir, the hospital is in dire need of manpower as there are no adequate doctors, nurses, midwives and other health workers. The teeming patients are left in the hands of a few nurses that are incapable of taking care of the entire wards of the hospital. Patients are now being attended to by a dental surgeon instead of a medical doctor.

Sir, even those volunteer health workers that you pledged to absorb into civil service across the healthcare centres and general hospitals of the state are now on indefinite strike over nonpayment of their stipend for some months. It is very important to keep your word of absorbing all those volunteer health workers into the state civil service.

Besides sir, the hospital is also suffering from lack of power supply for a long time since it was disconnected due to the hospital management’s inability to settle its electricity bill. This is beginning to give rise to water scarcity and open defecation. The management of the hospital is also said to be incapable of fueling their generator.

Given that we are in a season where we experience rise in temperature, rainfall and humidity, which often lead to outbreak of malaria fever and other diseases, due attention should promptly be given to this hospital so as to rescue innocent lives.

Your Excellency, health is said to be a great wealth. So, being a considerate governor, I appeal to you sir to wipe off our tears by resuscitating our comatose hospital.
