Also, the Chief Imam of Bauchi Central Mosque, Alhaji Bala Ahmed Limanchi, advised leaders to repent and work for sustainabl­e peace in the country.

Ogun

Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has urged Nigerians, particular­ly clerics, to pray fervently for peaceful elections in 2023 and transition of power.

The governor stated this while addressing Muslim faithful at the Lantoro Central Praying Ground in Abeokuta, the state capital, after prayers led by the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Saad Bamigbola.

Abiodun, who was represente­d by his Chief of Staff, Shuaib Salis, appealed to residents to eschew violence and any vice capable of throwing the state and the country into turmoil.

He also urged politician­s to refrain themselves from taking actions or making utterances that could heat up the polity.

Abiodun, who lamented the get-rich-quick syndrome among the youth, urged parents and religious leaders to counsel youths against engaging in social vices. Tight security in Kwara The 2022 Eid in Kwara State was held amidst very tight security as thousands trooped out to the various praying centres across the state.

Security operatives, including soldiers, policemen and personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) mounted tight security at strategic places.

The Grand-Mufti of Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State and Chairman, Duin Internatio­nal Academy, Abuja, Dr. Rafee’ Busayree Al-Ijebuwi, has cautioned Muslims against show-off and insolence, to gain the pleasure of Allah.

In his Eid-el-Fitr Sermon delivered at Al-Huda Masjid (mosque) Byazhin, Kubwa in Abuja, he urged Nigerians to be patient to acquire useful knowledge and adhere to doing the right things at all times in their undertakin­gs.
