Buni urges calm, vigilance as Yobe holds peaceful sallah

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has called on the people of the state to remain calm, conscious and vigilant by reporting any suspicious movement and objects in their communitie­s to security agents.

Buni made the call in his sallah message to the people of the state, signed by the Director General Press Affairs and Media to the Governor, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed.

The governor felicitate­d with the people of the state and the entire Muslim ummah on the Eid-el-Fitr celebratio­n, marking the end of the Ramadan fasting.

He said the Ramadan fasting had in the last one month inculcated patience, devotion, self-control, truthfulne­ss, humility, kindness, tolerance, forgivenes­s, altruism and other virtues of Islam, “we should extend these virtues beyond the month of Ramadan.”

The governor reminded the people on Zakatul Fitr or giving out a measure of foodstuff to the needy observed at the end of the fasting period to give them a sense of belonging during the festive period.

Buni prayed to Almighty Allah to accept the acts of ibadah, worship and supplicati­ons made by the people for the full return of peace and prosperity in Yobe State and Nigeria.

He admonished the people to always support government and security agencies, and to remain law-abiding to facilitate execution of government policies and programmes.

He assured of the commitment of his administra­tion to providing more infrastruc­tural developmen­t to improve the lives of the people.

He specifical­ly asked the people to remain law-abiding as the 2023 electionee­ring had commenced.

The governor called for support for a successful general election.

He again stressed the need for people to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards to fully participat­e in the 2023 general elections.

“All political parties are enjoined to promote peaceful electionee­ring, devoid of rancour to promote the spirit of sportsmans­hip in elections and strengthen Nigeria’s democracy,

“I also wish to commend the Nigerian Armed Forces, other security operatives and the vigilante groups for their patriotism and gallantry in the fight against insurgency and other crimes” Buni said.

The eid-el-fitr sallah celebratio­n was observed peacefully across Yobe State with Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana, among other top government officials observing the two raka’at prayers at the Yobe Mosque and Islamic Centre Eid Ground, Damaturu.
