Buni approves funds for labour leaders’ training on digital unionism
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved funds for the training of labour leaders on digital unionism aimed at enhancing their capacity for better results.
The state’s Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Garba Bilal, disclosed this in Damaturu during the May Day celebration to mark the 2022 Workers’ Day.
Bilal urged those selected for the training, billed to commence in July, to take advantage of it to equip themselves with the skills required for modern unionism.
He asked workers to remain productive for effective implementation of government policies and programmes.
He said Buni’s administration considered workers a tool for the actualization of government policies and programmes hence the need for their commitment for success.
“His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon Mai Mala Buni, has appreciated you for imbibing the culture of productivity, because productivity leads to satisfactory performance and good service delivery.
“Most of the projects being embarked by the present administration definitely have some mitres touch of the workers.
“His Excellency commends workers of the state for their hard work, diligence and sacrifice because we know the conditions most of you are working and you’re putting in your best to justify the confidence reposed in you by this government,” Bilal stated.
“Let me reiterate once more that during my acceptance speech I have made it abundantly clear that my office will work with organised labour.
“One of the key areas I have highlighted on assumption of duty when members of the various unions or associations paid me a congratulatory visit is the issue of indiscipline in the workforce.
“This is a great challenge to all of us and must stop,” the HoS stated.
