Police kill 5 kidnappers in Edo

The police in Edo State, on Saturday, killed five kidnappers during a gun battle.

It was gathered that the incident happened in Ovia North East LGA when the suspected kidnappers attempted to abduct an expatriate working with Okumo Oil Palm Plantation.

The state’s police spokesman, Bello Kontongs, said after receipt of information of the kidnap attempt, policemen mobilised to the location.

He said, “In the ensuing gun battle, the operatives neutralised five of them while others escaped.”
