Quds day rally: IMN denies setting Zaria police station ablaze
The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shi’ite has debunked allegations that their members set ablaze a police station in Zaria during the Quds day rally.
The representative of its National leader in Zaria, Malam Abdulhamid Bello, who denied the allegation during a press conference in Zaria, enjoined citizens to visit Kasuwar Mata Police Station to ascertain whether it was burnt or not.
“This year’s procession in Zaria was attacked under the pretext that the members set the Sabon Gari Police Station and a vehicle on fire.
“It is on record that for over 40 years of marking the annual Quds day in Nigeria under the leadership of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, it has always been peacefully conducted unless when attacked by the security forces,” he said.
Malam Bello said eight of their members were currently hospitalised due to gun wounds while over 70, including women and children with life-threatening injuries from police shots, were dumped in police cells without the needed medical attention.
“We, therefore, call for the immediate release of all in police captivity,” he said.
