Hajj: 2nd orientatio­n exercise for FCT pilgrims begins Sat

Barely a month to the commenceme­nt of the airlift of Muslim pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has intensifie­d preparatio­ns for the second phase of orientatio­n for its intending pilgrims.

The Director of the board, Mallam Muhammad Nasiru Danmallam, who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, said the board had mapped out strategies to conduct a hitch-free Hajj despite the short time available to prepare.

The director explained that the intending pilgrims would be enlightene­d on the entire Hajj operations on Saturday, May 7, and Sunday, May 8, at the permanent Hajj camp near the Nnamdi Azikwe Internatio­nal Airport, Abuja, from 8am daily. He explained that with a 1,537-seat allocation to the FCT for this year’s Hajj, the board had streamline­d its preparatio­n to ensure that intending pilgrims from the got the best services in line with the aspiration­s of the FCT Administra­tion (FCTA).

He further said the board had already mobilised renowned Islamic scholars for the exercise to educate the intending pilgrims on Hajj rites, as well as new policies introduced for this year’s Hajj by the Saudi authoritie­s and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
