AIG decorates 51 officers with new ranks
The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 5, Benin, Lawan Jimeta Tanko, has decorated 51 newly promoted officers in Edo State with their new ranks.
Decorating the officers at the Zone 5 headquarter, AIG Tanko said the 51 newly promoted inspectors comprised 42 males and nine females.
He charged the officers to put in their best and be professional in the performance of their constitutional duty, show loyalty to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and consider themselves lucky to be so favoured by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba.
FCT council chair decries dumping of refuse in drains
The Chairman of Kuje Area Council of the FCT, Abdullahi Suleiman Sabo, has expressed displeasure over the dumping of refuse on in drains by residents.
Sabo, who spoke after he inspected some blocked drains at Anguwar Kayarada in the metropolis after a heavy downpour on Saturday, warned that any resident caught dumping in drains would face the wrath of the law.
He said indiscriminate dumping of refuse led to poor hygienic practices and serious environmental problems, especially during the rainy season.
He said despite public enlightenment campaign being carried out by the government, some residents still dumped refuse indiscriminately.
