Police arrest 7 cultists in Ekiti

The police in Ekiti State have arrested seven suspected cultists in AramokoEki­ti during a clash among rival cult groups, Black Axe, Aiye and Eiye confratern­ities.

The police command said they received credible intelligen­ce that the groups were engaging one another in Aramoko-Ekiti hence the clampdown on them during which the arrests were made, while many others escaped.

The police listed those arrested as Olajide Marvelous (24), Sunday Kolawole (20), Olajide Samuel (25), Jamiu Olalekan (24), Sunday David (18), Idowu Olarenwaju (25) and Okeke Dada (24).

The state’s police spokesman, ASP, Sunday Abutu, said investigat­ion revealed that the cult groups were fighting for supremacy and had been terrorisin­g citizens and causing nuisance in Aramoko-Ekiti.

He added that weapons and insignias of cultism were recovered from them, while effort was ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
