LMC imposes N4m fine on MFM, Kwara Utd for breaching NPFL rules

The League Management Company (LMC) has hit hard on MFM FC and Kwara United for breaching the NPFL Framework & Rules during their separate Match Day 26 fixtures.

It will be recalled that some MFM supporters & officials encroached onto the field of play and attacked the centre referee during their Match Day 26 clash with Enugu Rangers in Lagos last

Sunday.

MFM have been fined N3m cumulative­ly for failure to provide general security, for encroachin­g onto the field of play and unsporting behaviour of their players, officials and fans.

MFM team manager Geoffrey Aghogi was banned indefinite­ly from all NPFL-organized activities including matches for harassing match officials while MFM players Jerry Isaac and Christian Molokwu have been suspended for the next 12 matches for their involvemen­t in the infraction in this instance.

Meanwhile, the physically assaulted centre referee in the match that ended in a barren draw at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports arena in Lagos will get a compensati­on of N250,000 and any other additional verifiable medical costs.

In the same vein, Kwara Utd have also been charged for breaching the NPFL Framework & Rules in their Match day 26 fixture against Rivers United at the Ilorin township stadium.

Some supporters of Kwara United have been found guilty of encroachin­g onto the technical area/field of play, causing disorder & bringing the league to disrepute in the course of the match.

Kwara United have, therefore, been fined N1 million for encroachin­g onto the field of play and will play their next home match against 3SC behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, the LMC has opened a 7 working day window for both teams to pay all fines or elect to appeal the sanctions.
