Naija Ratels boss, Edeh redeems N.6m pledge to Flamingos
The president of Ratels Sports Development Foundation (RSDF), Barrister Paul Edeh has redeemed the promise he made to Nigeria’s U-17 national women’s team, the Flamingos ahead of their FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Egypt in April.
The founder and financier of NWFL side, Naija Ratels who presented N600, 000 to the team yesterday morning shortly after their training said he had promised to reward them with N100, 000 per goal against the Egyptians.
The Flamingos had won 6-0 on aggregate to move into the final round of the qualifying stage against Ethiopia.
Making the presentation, Edeh said “My appreciation goes to the NFF, for giving young people like you the opportunity to represent us and represent us well.
“What I’m doing today is not because
I have so much but I feel young girls like you should be rewarded and encouraged to do more. We are in a society where attention is given more to the boys’ game compared to the women.
“But all through this period, the girls have not disappointed us. Super Falcons have qualified, Falconets have qualified and now, Flamingos will qualify.
“On behalf of my foundation, Ratels Sports Development Foundation, which is inclined to supporting grassroots sports, I want to assure you that before the next match, I am still going to talk with officials at the NFF to see the commitment we can make to further boost your effort to ensure that you win the next match.”
Edeh, therefore, renewed his promise of N100, 000 per goal against Ethiopia and promised to give the coaching crew $1000, if they eventually qualify the team for the World Cup in India.
The Flamingos will play away against Ethiopia on May 20 before the final leg in Nigeria on June 2, 2022.
