Kogi monarch wants rice mill in his kingdom
The Ohinoyi of Girinya Kingdom in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Alhaji Ganaguda Ismail, has called on the state government to establish a rice mill in his kingdom in order to improve rice processing in the area.
Alhaji Ganaguda, who made the call during an interview at his palace on Monday, said 95 per cent of his subjects were into rice farming, noting that farming was their major occupation.
According to him, the rice milling factory will help the farmers to acquire new technologies on rice processing. He said, “Girinya Kingdom is known for rice farming and fishing activities right from history, as people from neighbouring FCT, Niger and Edo states always come here every four days to buy rice and fish in large quantities.’’
The first class traditional ruler also urged the state government to build a modern market in the area in order to accommodate large the number traders that trouped into the area on market days.
