Police arrest 3 bandits, repel attack in Niger
The police in Niger State have arrested three bandits and rescued 15 abductees in the Agigi/Kashimi Forest in Lapai LGA.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspects were arrested after a tip off that they were sighted in the forest on Wednesday.
He said, “Sequel to the ongoing onslaught against banditry and other criminalities in the state, on 11/05/2022 at about 1330hrs, information was received that suspected armed bandits were sighted at Agigi/Kpashimi Forest via Lapai LGA.”
He said the suspects were arrested through a joint effort by the police and vigilantes after a gun duel.
He further said, “Consequently, three suspects among the bandits were arrested and 15 victims rescued from the forest. Two burnt motorcycles were equally recovered from their camp.”
