Police Commission promotes Magu to AIG, others

The Police Service Commission yesterday announced the promotion of a former acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

Magu had, on May 5, exited the Force after attaining the retirement age of 60.

The PSC, at its 15th plenary meeting, presided over by its chairman and former IGP, Musiliu Smith, also promoted seven other Commission­ers of Police to the AIG.

The spokesman of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani, said the plenary confirmed Acting DIG John Ogbonnaya Amadi as a substantiv­e DIG and approved the appointmen­t of Zama Bala Senchi as DIG.

The NPC also approved the promotion of 23 Deputy Commission­ers to the rank of Commission­ers of Police; 31 Assistant Commission­ers to Deputy Commission­ers of Police and 63 Chief Superinten­dents of Police to Assistant Commission­ers of Police.

Amadi replaced the Late DIG Joseph Egbunike and will be representi­ng the South East in the Force Management team; while DIG Senchi was the most senior in the AIG cadre.

The NPC also approved the promotion of 57 Superinten­dents of Police earlier skipped when their mates were promoted to the next rank of Chief Superinten­dents.

Other officers promoted include Abraham Egong Ayim, Okunlola Kola Kamaldeen, Andrew Amieenghem­e, Akeera Mohammed Younous, Celestine Amechi Elumelu, Ngozi Vivian Onadeko and Danladi Bitrus Lalas (Airwing).
