How I killed 3 people to become 2i/c of Eiye confraternity – Kwara cultist
A cultist in Kwara State, Tijani Abdulfatahi (26), has told newsmen that he killed three people to gain promotion as a member of Eiye confraternity.
While speaking during a parade by the Kwara State Police Command, Tijani, a 500-level electrical and electronic drop out from the University of Ilorin, said he joined the group in 2019 following low academic performance.
He said, “Yes, I am a member of Eiye confraternity, and I have killed three persons in Kwara over rivalry disagreement.
“Those I killed were our rivals and my gang leader asked me to said she was worried because there was nowhere for her to start up.
“This is worrying, where will I go and start? Government supposed to provide an alternative place for us before the demolition,” she said.
One of the leaders of the traders, Malam Ibrahim Lawal, who expressed anger over the incident, admitted that the FCT Administration gave them a notice of three months but it was not yet time.
Lawal said: “I feel very bad because we were given three months but it is not up to the time, We were following up the issue till late last week, the people that came told us that they were sent by the minister, kill them for my promotion to become the Ostrich; that is the second in command in Kwara.”
Asked about the benefits that accrued to him as the number two man, the suspect said, “I will get protection from my members and other benefits like free food, money and women. others said the minister is not aware of the demolition, how comes? The minister promised us land, we have not seen it,” he said.
Fielding questions from journalists after the exercise, the Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement to the minister of FCT, Ikharo Attah, explained that the area which was near the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) had constituted a nuisance in the area.
He said pulling down of the illegal structures will bring about sanity in the area that has been converted to a mini market, which is against the master plan.
“After I joined the group, I started killing with my late father’s pistol, who was a retired army officer, Abdulazeez Olagunju, from Erin-Ile in Kwara State.
“The arm is now with a member of my gang who is at large called Damilare Adegoke.”
The police told newsmen during the parade that 15 other cult suspects had been arrested and charged to court for various criminal offences.
According to the police spokesman in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi (SP), seven categories of firearms were also recovered from them.
He said a three-man gang that specialise in stealing at POS spots in Ilorin and its environs had also been arrested.
