FG appoints Nwabuoku to oversee Accountant-General’s office

The Federal Government has appointed Mr Anamekwe Chukwunyer­e Nwabuoku to oversee the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF).

This followed the indefinite suspension of the Accountant­General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, who is being investigat­ed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged money laundering and diversion of N80 billion.

Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, the Special Adviser to the Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Zaynab Ahmed, announced Nwabuoku’s appointmen­t in a statement yesterday.

Abdullahi cited a letter dated May 20, 2022 and signed by Aliyu Ahmed, Permanent

Secretary (Finance), Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning.

According to the letter, the appointmen­t is pending the outcome of the EFCC’s investigat­ion.

“Mr Anamekwe is expected to carry out his duty in strict compliance with extant rules and observe the highest sense of profession­alism expected of an officer working at his level.

“Currently, he is Director, Inspectora­te Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, and presently he is overseeing the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation,”
