FCT minister, please come to our rescue in Pegi 1,000 Unit

- Kabir Abubakar wrote from Abuja

While thanking you for the ongoing commendable works in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and its environs, I ask God Almighty to continue to increase you in knowledge and good health to move on with the good work Sir.

However, I would like to bring to your notice the bad condition of Pegi 1,000 unit road and the dangers the residents of the community face on daily basis on the said road through this letter.

For many years now, the road has been almost impassable. We have lodged several complaints. But the problem has been neglected for a long time. The surface of some parts of the road is broken by the heavy rains. The side drains are gradually blocking and the water flows out. So, the road gets flooded even after a slight rain. Kindly look into the matter and do the needful Sir.

People have lost their lives because of the bad state of this road. I have also witnessed a robbery attack along this road on my way home from work. I had to make a u-turn and drive back to the nearest safe place to lodge a report with the patrol team of police. Although they put a call through to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) immediately and assured me of immediate action, I got home around 2:00 that night.

This road serves a large number of houses in this area and it’s the major and if not the only safe and accessible road to the community.

Whenever I get to the failed portion of the road,

I am usually apprehensive. I keep praying for divine help to successfully navigate the portion that is yet to be completed.

Lives have been lost on this road due to several cases of kidnapping and robbery attacks. This is a community that hosts lots of people: civil servants, people working at the airport and federal secretariat, NSCDC officers, government secondary school and Navy barracks etc.

So, I wonder why this very important few kilometres’ road would be neglected for more than a decade. My plea to the minister or whoever is in charge is to expedite action on the permanent solution to this road as it is the only safe road that links to 1000 Unit Estate.

It is now a nightmare for people of the community who pass through this road during this rainy season as cars, tricycles, motorcycles drive through slippery path where people easily fall and get injured. Criminals take advantage of the situation to attack innocent residents plying the road.

Honourable Minister Sir, you once visited this community to commission projects in the Navy Barracks and experienced our plight. The Minister of State, FCT, Hajiya Ramatu Tijani Aliyu, equally visited the community after one of the terrible incidents of kidnappings in this community. We want you to help us fix this road once and for all. his child who was there through thick and thin to see that his government came to power.

He played vital role in campaigning and securing votes for him.

We believe no matter his offence Guyaba deserves a better treatment from his excellency.
