Scam: Fraudster forfeits N60m Lekki mansion, car to FG

Justice Muhammed Sani of the Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, has convicted a fraudster, Ajewole Oluseyi David, for offences bordering on internet fraud.

The judge ordered the forfeiture of David’s duplex in Lekki, Lagos, worth over N60m and an RS 350 Lexus worth more than N6m which the convict procured with proceeds of illegal activities to the federal government.

David was prosecuted alongside seven other fraudsters over similar offences by the Ilorin Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The seven other accused are Ebenezer Olamilekan Apata, Obadun Abiodun Taofeek, Ayeni Kayode, Alade Oluwatosin Daniel, Ojo Tobi, Adeyemi Segun and Akinrinmola Olumide.

Some of them are among 30 fraud suspects arrested by EFCC operatives during a sting operation in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, recently.

The accused, who were prosecuted on separate charges, pleaded guilty to their respective charges.

Innocent Mbachie, Sesan Ola and Andrew Akoja, who prosecuted the cases on behalf of EFCC, urged the court to consider the “guilty plea” of the defendants among other evidences to convict them.

Delivering judgement, Justice Sani sentenced the convicts to various jail terms, ordered the forfeiture of the items used as instruments of their crimes and other proceeds of their illegal activities to the federal government.
