Nasarawa, UNICEF, GPE partner to launch Nigeria Learning Passport

Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, in collaborat­ion with the UNICEF and Global Partnershi­p for Education, has launched the Nigeria Learning Passport to revitalise and close the learning gap to access quality education in the state.

The governor said the effort would go a long way to enhance the use of digital learning technologi­es in the state and help pupils to acquaint themselves with modern technology.

Sule, who was represente­d at the launch by the commission­er for education, science and technology, Mrs Fatu Jimaita-Sabo, said the essence was to improve the environmen­t for teaching and learning for pupils in primary and secondary schools across the 13 local government areas of the state.

“The launching of the Nigeria Learning Passport will close the learning poverty gap and thereby enable continued access to quality education for the benefit of children and youth from the mobile, online, and offline features of the Nigeria Learning platform.

Sule reiterated his administra­tion’s commitment to ensuring that the education sector received adequate attention.

Earlier, the commission­er who on the other hand was represente­d by the permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr Mohammed Sani-Bala, said the launching of the passport was in line with the state government vision as contained in the Nasarawa Economic Developmen­t Strategy (NEDs 20192023) to revamp the education sector through the use of ICT center learning at the primary and secondary schools level.

She tasked all chief evaluation officers, education secretarie­s, principals, head teachers, teachers, and proprietor­s of private schools in the state to comply with the innovation to move the education system forward.

On his part, the executive chairman of Nasarawa state Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), Mr Muhammad Dan’azimi, urged teachers to avail themselves of the opportunit­y.
