Group donates to orphanage homes in Edo

A non-government­al organisati­on, Wise Foundation, has donated food items and cash to orphanage homes as well as physically challenged persons in Edo State.

Presenting the items in Benin, the foundation’s chief executive officer, Mr. Wisdom Ofoughe, said his decision to put smiles on the faces of less privileged people and the physically challenged was part of his contributi­on to ameliorati­ng their plight.

He said giving back to society, especially assisting the less privileged, has become part of his yearly birthday celebratio­n, which comes every June 30th. NYSC member donates items to orphanages

A member of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), serving at Nigeria Content Developmen­t and Monitoring Board in Bayelsa State, Blessing Ademilua, has donated food items, toiletries, clothing and cash worth about N500,000 to orphanage homes through the Personal Community Developmen­t Service (PCDS) in the state.

Speaking with journalist­s after the donations, Ademilua, a native of Agbado in Ekiti State, said it has always been her desire to identify with the less privileged and put a smile on their faces.

The orphanage home visited are Glory Land Orphanage, New Assembly Quarters road, and Daisy’s Home for Special Children Foundation all in Igbogene.

Court remands 7 over cultism in Edo

A high court sitting in Benin City, has remanded seven suspects in correction­al centre over alleged involvemen­t in the recent cult clash in Benin metropolis.

The suspects, Esosa Eregeorowo, Frank Obaze, Minister Godwin, Jeremiah Timothy, Jimoh Lasisi, Osasu Idehen and Idehen Marvis, were arraigned for conspiracy to commit murder, murder and membership of an unlawful society.

According to the charge sheet, the suspects were arrested in connection with the resurgence of cult-related clashes in Benin City.

The suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges while the prosecutor asked the court to remand them in a correction­al centre pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutio­ns.

Justice Ikponmwonb­a remanded the suspects pending the DPP advice.
