FG calls for improved synergy among security agencies

- From Abubakar Auwal, Sokoto

The federal government has advocated improved synergy among the security agencies in order to eliminate all security threats in the country.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the call after commissioning the Sokoto State headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday.

He said, “It is no longer news that the country is grappling with threats of banditry, kidnapping, insurgency, among other criminalities.

“If we must effectively tackle the complexities of our present security environment, you must eschew rancour and unnecessary rivalry.

“Sister security agencies have to work together. I am advocating that the synergy has to be much much more improved so that they can work together and eliminate any security threat so that they can make this country much safer for Nigerians so that we can live in comfort and improve our economy further.”

Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Shu’aibu Lamido, the minister assured the corps that the government would continue to support its effort towards enhancing better performance as a further step to boost national security.

He thanked the Government of Sokoto State for providing support and enabling environment to NSCDC.

In his remarks, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal hailed the collaboration among security agencies in tackling security challenges in the state, reassuring them of their sustained support.

The Commandant General of NSCDC, Ahmed Audi, assured that the corps was determined to provide its Sokoto command with logistics to succeed.
