NDLEA Secures Conviction Of 21 Drug Dealers In Rivers
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has successfully secured the conviction of 21 drug dealers in Rivers State in October 2022.
The NDLEA, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by its assistant state commander, Rivers State command, Emmanuel Ogbumgbada, said its operatives on Monday, November 7, 2022, arrested a drug kingpin, identified as Damion Onuoha, at Elele-Alimini in Emohua local government area of the state.
Ogbumgbada stated that Onuoha, aged 40 and indigene of Elele-Alimini, was arrested with 1.6kilogrammes of white and brown methamphetamine as well as N650,700.00.
He further stated that a total of 21 drug dealers, comprising of 19 males and two females were also arrested in the month of October 2022, in various parts of the state.
The statement reads in part: "At about 3:30 pm of Monday 7th November, 2022,
Operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Rivers State Command nabbed one Damion Onuoha 'M' 40 yrs, during a raid operation at Elele Alimini town of Emuoha LGA, with 1.6kg of white and brown methamphetamine, and also recovered monetary exhibit amounting to six hundred and fifty thousand, seven hundred naira (N650,700.00) only.
"Mr. Onuoha who hails from Elele Alimini town is in the Command's detention facility undergoing investigation.
"Meanwhile, in the month of October 2022, Rivers State Command of NDLEA successfully convicted twenty-one (21) drug dealers at the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, and the convicts are serving various jail terms at the Correctional Service Centre, Port Harcourt.
"The Command also arrested 21 suspects comprising 19 males and two females with a total seizure of 424.72kg of illicit drugs such as cocaine, heroin, cannabis sativa and methamphetamine aka mkpurunmiri. Others are psychotropic substances such as tramadol and Swinol."
