Security Agencies Go After Corrupt Personnel In Katsina
Heads of security of agencies in Katsina State have set up an ad-hoc committee to flush out the bad eggs among their personnel.
The personnel being tracked are allegedly involved in mounting illegal checkpoints and extortion of the residents.
The customs area controller, Katsina State Command, Chide Wada, started this when he debunked an alleged extortion of groundnut and beans sellers along the KaitaDankama Road by some security personnel.
He said the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) laws were very clear on import and export procedures and must block any illegal means of import and export, adding that the alleged Dankama border is among those closed by the federal government and only Jibia border food items are allowed after duties have been paid on them.
While assuring the people of Katsina, especially the business community of the command's professional conduct and relentless in the discharge of their core mandate, called on mischief makers to desist from their actions as the command would not rest in the arrest of smugglers and bad eggs among the security agencies to face the wrath of the law.
He said, "The security heads in Katsina State have formed an ad-hoc committee to go around the state to fish out all the bad eggs within the security agencies such as; illegal checkpoints, extortion and use of camp boys in discharging official duties.
"You would remember for over a year now we have had smooth customs operations in Katsina, this is just a litmus test of our success, they want to tell us that they are around but we want to assure them that we are watching them", the controller said
He said the command between September and October, seized smuggled items worth N77,803,825 along the Jibia border.
