Gombe LP Gov’ship Candidate Promises Inclusive Govt
Gombe State governorship candidate under the platform of the Labour Party (LP), Hon Keftin Amuga, has promised to deliver inclusive government and good governance to the people of the state.
Amuga stated this to newsmen during a press conference he organised in Abuja. He stated that his vision is to redeem and restore the oppressed people of Gombe, if given the mandate.
He said Gombe State which was created in 1996, is an amalgam of the former Gombe Natives Authority (NA) and the Tangled-Waja native authority, saying the entities were both created in 1935 by the British colonial masters and given equal status in accordance with their distinct historical and political antecedent.
He added that since the creation of Gombe State in 1996 there had been an entrenchment of discrimination against some of the indigenes of the state on the basis of ethnicity and religion.
He said the discrimination is practiced by both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) governments that have ruled the state for the past 26 years, adding that indigenes were discriminated against in the N-power programme, poverty alleviation intervention, political appointments, and traditional institutions.
He noted that the discrimination extended to the appointment of their traditional leaders thereby rubbishing the image and respect of traditional leaders in the state, citing the appointment of successor to the stool of Mai Tangle after the death of His Royal Highness, Mai Abdul Buba ll, the 15th Mai Tangle.
