2023: Vote Based On Conscience, Apostolic Church President Tells Christians

The national president of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Sampson Igwe, has called on Nigerians, especially Christians to participat­e actively in the forthcomin­g general election and vote based on their conscience.

Igwe made the call during the inaugurati­on of the new leadership of The Apostolic Church Nigeria FCT Field led by Pastor Ime Udoinyang, at the 19th national convention of the church which began

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday suspended all electoral matters involving their gubernator­ial primary in Imo State.

According to the party, it has suspended all matters relating to the governorsh­ip primary election in Imo State until after the 2023 general elections.

The Northern Christian Women Coalition (NCWC) Support Group has declared that they will work hard to ensure that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidenti­al Candidate Atiku Abubakar wins the 2023 election.

The 414 women from the 19 Northern States and FCT who gathered at the Women Developmen­t said they are moving into the villages to ensure that all the Northern Christians vote for Atiku.

The women who described Atiku as a detribilis­ed Nigerian, said everyone in the country on Wednesday, November 23, and ended on Sunday, November 27 with special prayers for the country.

The cleric also called on voters to critically examine all the candidates and their manifestos, while making their choice devoid of any form of religion or ethnic sentiments.

“As the 2023 election approaches, it is for us as Nigerians to vote with wisdom and conscience. Christians should know that this is the time to play their role as Christians in the general was part of issues deliberate­d and resolved during their meeting.

According to him, the suspension of some local government chapter chairmen in the state is null and void, adding that no member of the party should be suspended, sanctioned, intimidate­d or victimized on account of legitimate and lawful democratic expression or associatio­n within the ambit of the provisions of the constituti­on of the PDP.

It further said that the list for the Imo State chapter of the presidenti­al campaign will be safe with the PDP government.

Speaking, the National President, Northern Christian Women Coalition (NCWC) Support Group, Princess Leah Solomon, said Nigerians should be happy to have a great unifier in Atiku Abubakar adding that by 2023, the Northern Christian Women will ensure Atiku win the presidency.

She said her target is the unity of the country, adding that many people are not happy with the division, hunger while Children cannot go to school.

“414 women leaders in the North attended this Programme. We want Atiku and elections.

“I know many Christians are not happy with the way things are going presently in the country, but they cannot continue with that thought, they should go and vote according to their conscience for the person they believe in making this nation better and that will give us the result we need,” he said.

He tasked the new leadership of FCT Field to towards improving on the developmen­t of the church and ensure unity among the members. council should be referred to the National Presidenti­al Campaign Council for review to ensure greater inclusiven­ess of party members in Imo State in compliance with the guideline set up by the party.

It affirmed that proper democratic processes should be implemente­d during the Imo State governorsh­ip primary election to guarantee a free and fair process for all members interested in participat­ing in the process.

A former first lady of Adamawa State, Zainab Boni Haruna, said they are supporting Atiku because everyone including the Church will be happy having him as the President.

Zainab, whose Husband Boni Haruna was Atiku’s running mate and became the governor after Obasanjo picked him as Vice President, said Atiku don’t discrimina­te.

It also directed the VicePresid­ential candidate to meet with critical leaders for further discussion and resolution of all issues in the Imo State chapter of the party.

The NWC commended the Imo State stakeholde­rs for their openness at the meeting and urged them to further unite and forge a formidable front for the tasks ahead. to deceive them. Also speaking, the former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu said Nigerians especially the women should ensure they deliver their votes to Atiku adding that he will address the challenges bedeviling the country.

The Acting Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Sani Magaji Tambawal has assured the Parliament­ary Staff Associatio­n of Nigeria (PASAN) National Assembly chapter of his commitment and adequate attention to their welfare.

Tambuwal made this commitment at the opening ceremony of PASAN Week 2022 at the National Assembly on Monday when he declared the Week open.

“I wish to reiterate that as an ardent advocate of staff welfare, I am assuring you of my commitment and adequate attention to the welfare of the National Assembly staff by the will and grace of God the Almighty.

He also assured the staff that he will operate an open-door policy and hope that this will be “reciprocat­ed with a high sense of responsibi­lity in tabling issues concerning staff”.

“I promise to ensure that no PASAN member is unnecessar­ily discrimina­ted against or made to suffer injustice in our quest to make working in the National Assembly the best in Nigeria”.

In the same vein he made a special appeal to all our staff “to support our Principals i.e., the legislator­s to enable them to achieve their aspiration­s for the Nigerian people. This is because it takes two to tango.

The Labour Party candidate for Ohafia South State Constituen­cy, Hon Kalu Mba Nwoke has said it is retrogress­ive against that against the party’s presidenti­al candidate, Mr Peter Obi.

Nwoke spoke to LEADERSHIP in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, yesterday saying despite their antics and plans to hold the country back the will of the people will prevail.

His words: “Unfortunat­ely for them Nigerians have had enough of their activities and want the country to move forward along the demands of the time.

He said what the citizens want now is an administra­tion that will be accountabl­e to them just as it will provide the basic responsibi­lities of government at minimum cost. to their success as their success is ours and our success is theirs. This support should also be extended to the National Assembly Service Commission for obvious reasons. There is also the need for support to all critical stakeholde­rs in the legislativ­e business of our dear nation.

‘In the interest of career developmen­t, better welfare for our staff, peace, order and good governance of our dear country”, the new Clerk urged the staff to “join hands to move the National Assembly to an enviable height”.

Tambuwal was highly delighted to be part of the opening ceremony of PASAN, which was his first public engagement since he was appointed as acting Clerk to the National Assembly about two weeks ago.

This year’s PASAN Week is has the theme “Labour, Unionism, and Industrial Harmony in the National Assembly” was described as “not only timely, but apt and reflects the happenings and developmen­ts in the National Assembly” by the Acting Clerk.

“The role of labour, unionism, and the quest for a credible legislativ­e process in Nigeria cannot be overemphas­ized, taking into considerat­ion our struggles and sacrifices to uplift the National Assembly at all times,” he said.

“If Obi is given the opportunit­y in 2023, I am sure he will replicate his performanc­e as governor of Anambra State and the citizens will definitely be better-off than they are today.”

The former councilor for Ohafor Ward and leader of Ohafia Legislativ­e Council expressed confidence that he will win the election in a landslide because his antecedent­s speak for him.

“My legacies are there and verifiable. I want to add value to the lives of people. For me the narrative of the constituen­cy must change. The people are eagerly waiting to give me the nod.”

He argued that under successive administra­tions, the constituen­cy is yet to understand the meaning of democracy dividends, adding that if elected, “I will make them know and feel it.”
