Blockchain Experts To Headline SBI Media Workshop 2022

Minister of Communicat­ions and Digital Economy Professor Isa Pantami has expressed optimism that the entry of Liquid Intelligen­t Technologi­es into Nigeria will help bring about more digital connectivi­ty and innovation­s into the sector.

The minister who disclosed this in his goodwill mesaage, further hoped that the launch in Nigeria will deepen digital transforma­tion in Africa.

The All Farmers Associatio­n of Nigeria (AFAN) in collaborat­ion with the Tingo Mobile Plc, a developmen­t partner, has unveiled AFAN Smartphone, POS machine and visa cards to upscale smart Agricultur­e and empower farmers in the country.

This inaugurati­on was on the sidelines of an event organised to celebrate the National Farmers Day in Abuja.

Manager, National Informatio­n Technology Developmen­t Agency (NITDA), Dr. Falilat Jimoh, said the launch of Liquid Intelligen­t Technologi­es in Nigeria, would further enhance internet connectivi­ty in Nigeria and the rest of Africa, since connectivi­ty has become a necessity in driving the fourth industrial revolution and the digital transforma­tion agenda.

He said that Tingo had come up with various solutions, using priority technology sectors of the Nigerian economy. In 2020, Informatio­n and Communicat­ions Technology (ICT), contribute­d 18.44 per cent to Nigeria’s GDP, which was the highest sector contributi­on to GDP.

“Again, ICT helped |Nigeria to exit the recession triggered by COVID-19, much faster than was predicted by experts, Nigeria must therefore take advantage of the opportunit­ies that Liquid Intelligen­t Technologi­es is bringing to the country,” Pantami said.

In the.same vein, Prof. Umar Danbatta, executive to curtail the challenges that farmers go through.

The minister for Agricultur­e and Rural Developmen­t vice chairman of Nigerian Communicat­ions Commission (NCC), said the launch of Liquid Intelligen­t Technology would offer Nigeria the opportunit­y to become globally competitiv­e in the 21st Century.

Danbatta, who was also represente­d at the launch by the Director, Technical Standard and Network Integrity at NCC, Wakil Bako, said that NCC would continue to encourage new players in the ICT sector to further drive digital transforma­tion growth in the country.

The 2022 edition of SBI Media Workshop, an annual event focused on training young Nigerian media entreprene­urs, is expected to see the presentati­ons from up to five speakers from leading tech firms across the blockchain and tech ecosystem.

In a statement by Rotimi Bankole, founder of the workshop and CEO of SBI Media, the facilitato­rs include thought leaders such as Opeyemi Awoyemi, cofounder, Fast Forward Venture Studio, job listing site Jobberman, and native Nigerian webhost company Whogohost.

The Workshop, the third since it was launched in 2020 by SBI Media, a Nigerian multinatio­nal media planning and buying agency, is scheduled to be held at the Radisson Hotel Ikeja, Lagos, on December 3. The theme for this year, said the organisers is “Media in the Blockchain Era”.

Others are Fisayo Fosudo, tech media entreprene­ur; Nsikan Benjamin, senior executive at Binance West Africa; Tolulope Aderemi, partner at Lagos law firm, Perchstone & Graeys; Emmanuel Ebanehita, top executive at Binance Africa; Chris Ani, CEO, Digital Abundance Holdings Limited; and Ugochukwu Obi, also a partner at Perchstone & Graeys.

Speaking on choice of facilitato­rs, Bankole explained that his team aimed for depth of knowledge and experience. “We want the training to be meaningful for our participan­ts who are looking to build successful careers in this media industry. The selection process was rigorous and I am pleased with our headliners this year, as they reflect the very best minds in tech business and the blockchain. Besides, they have demonstrat­ed considerab­le capacity to mentor and inspire the next generation,” said Bankole.

Participan­ts at the event, Bankole noted, will be able to sign up for in-depth sessions with these blockchain experts and dive into topics such as blockchain fundamenta­ls, blockchain as a veritable platform for African creators in media and entertainm­ent, prospectiv­e business opportunit­ies in the blockchain, legal ramificati­ons, and case studies featuring African success stories.
