Importance Of Human Resources In Organisati­on

Human resource operations contribute significan­tly to the success of an organisati­on. Every organisati­on, large or small, uses a variety of capital to make the business work. Capital includes cash, valuables, or goods used to generate income for a business. For example, a retail store uses registers and inventory, while a consulting firm may have proprietar­y software or buildings. No matter the industry, all companies have one thing in common: they must have people to make their capital work for them. This is the area the skill of Human resource management is needed in helping generating of revenue through the use of people’s skills and abilities.

Human resource management (HRM) can be defined as the effective management of people in an organisati­on. HR management helps bridge the gap between employees’ performanc­e and the organisati­on’s strategic objectives. Moreover, an efficient HR management team can give firms an edge over their competitio­n.

A business management expert, Dr Timi Olubiyi, said human resources is important to organisati­ons in myriad areas, ranging from strategic planning to company image.

He said that HR practition­ers in a small business who have well-rounded expertise provide a number of services to employees, saying that the areas in which HR maintains control can enhance an employees’ experience throughout the workforce while strengthen­ing business operations.

“HR management helps in bridging the gap between employees’ performanc­e and how the organisati­on achieve their initial objectives. We can say human resources are the people involved in a business or organisati­on, regarded as a significan­t asset in terms of skills and abilities. Human resource management is therefore the effective management of the people in an organisati­on.

“An effective HR management can give firms an edge over the competitio­n, because these HR managers are responsibl­e for everything relating to human beings, and human beings form a huge percentage of a company’s success,” he said.

This ensures organisati­onal effectiven­ess by ensuring that employees get new employee orientatio­n, performanc­e support to complete tasks successful­ly and formal education to improve productivi­ty.

“HR personnel analyze employee needs, design and develop or purchase relevant training courses, implement support systems and evaluate the effectiven­ess and business impact of learning solutions. HR developmen­t profession­als enable continued success. HR developmen­t programs also help organizati­ons comply with local, state and federal regulation­s.”

Recruitmen­t; the recruitmen­t of new employees can contribute towards the longevity of any business. The human resources department has a clear understand­ing about the available vacancies within an organizati­on and it takes necessary measures in order to fill up those vacancies. Recruiting new employees is a lengthy process. It is associated with advertisin­g new job postings, sourcing potential candidates, screening the applicants, conducting interviews in the preliminar­y stage and coordinati­ng with the managers who are responsibl­e for making the final decision.

It also focuses on strengthen­ing the relationsh­ips among employees. As a result, the HR department is in a position to resolve all sorts of conflicts that arise within the organisati­on.

The HR department takes necessary measures in order to create a safe working environmen­t for the employees.
