Vigilante kills female student during graduation party
Afemale graduate of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, Uloko Laurenta Apaume, has been allegedly shot dead by a member of the Auchi community vigilante group during a graduation party.
It was gathered that the victim simply identified as Uloko, a Banking and Finance graduate, was allegedly killed on Friday night by a stray bullet from the vigilante who was at the party to provide security for the celebrating students.
It was gathered that the students after writing their final paper on Thursday, invited vigilantes to help secure the venue.
Daily Trust on Sunday learnt that during the party, the vigilante as part of the celebration with the students fired into the air but the gun jammed.
However, it was gathered that as the vigilante was lowering the gun to know why it failed, the bullet discharged itself and accidentally killing the girl on the spot.
The state commissioner of police, Babatunde Johnson Kokumo, who confirmed the incident, said it was clearly a misadventure and not an intentional killing.
