Ovarian cyst after using Clomid

I have used Clomid three times now. When I went for the last scan I was told I had ovarian cyst measuring 48 x 37mm. It was not there before I started using Clomid. Is the Clomid the cause? – Nkechi, Abuja

One thing we must get clear is that with or without Clomid ovarian cyst can occur. The size of the cyst is not big enough to worry about. As we had mentioned in some previous editions, ovarian cyst less than 5cm or 50mm does not need intervention unless it is complicated with persistent pain. Most cysts will regress over time. Only very few will increase in size. Drug use is not treatment for ovarian cyst.

Tansvaginal ovarian cyst drainage can be done, especially if the cyst is not a complex one.
