‘AUN students covered by campus health centre’

The American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola in Adamawa State has said that all students can access the institution’s health center. A press statement made available to Daily Trust on Sunday yesterday from the university’s Office of Communications and Public Relations, explained that the Ministry of Women Affairs was accurate that all students, including the young women from Chibok, are covered at the AUN health center.

According to the statement, AUN students or the young women from Chibok, pay a health centre fee that covers cost of health.

It added that the center on campus is not a hospital, but provides basic health care services.

The statement said when a student has a health issue beyond the capability of the center, parents are informed and cases are referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, which they did in the case of the Chibok girl.

The institution was reacting to an allegation that it did not provide adequate health care to Naomi, a rescued Chibok girl, sponsored by the government to start a special catch-up course in September at the AUN.
