4) Kitty Kelley, Oprah.

-

This book by the doyen of unauthorized autobiographies tells all about the world’s most loved Talk Show Queen and how she started her career and built a media empire to boot. But it also shows us the underbelly of fame, the self-entitlement and the treatment of acolytes in this book which can be less than stellar. Kitty Kelley shows us just how powerful the broadcast field can be and in an interview after the book is written says Oprah made everything from the scratch, maximized her opportunities and worked hard and neither inherited her money nor married it, for which she respects Oprah deeply. Although there are those who say Kitty has mostly unsubstantiated information but she shows in the book on Oprah how fame can go to one’s head in broadcasting. My two pence. Staying humble with all the fame helps to ground you.
