Benue community resolves on self-development
The people of OkoOrokam in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State have resolved to intensify their self-help efforts to address the community’s development challenges while awaiting government interventions.
They made the resolution yesterday at Ipole-Oko Orokam at a general congress during which a new national leadership was constituted for Opiatoha Oko, the umbrella national body.
In a press statement emailed to Daily Trust on Sunday signed by the National President, Chief Joseph Obekpa, the congress drew delegates from Abuja, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Awka, Lafia, Makurdi, Otukpo, Ugbokolo and Okpo among others.
He emphasized the need for peace without which no meaningful development can take place.
The new leadership has Chief Joseph Obekpa as Chairman, Chief Ali Onche, 1st Vice Chairman, Ojonugba Adikwu, 2nd Vice Chairman, John Idoko Secretary-General, Clement Idoko, Assistant Secretary-General, Simon Onche, Financial Secretary, Doctor (Mrs) Rose Abah, Treasurer, Igba Ogbole, Public Relations Officer and Ochokam Onoja, Organising Secretary.
