Benue com­mu­nity re­solves on self-de­vel­op­ment

The peo­ple of OkoOrokam in Og­badibo Lo­cal Govern­ment Area of Benue State have re­solved to in­ten­sify their self-help ef­forts to ad­dress the com­mu­nity’s de­vel­op­ment chal­lenges while await­ing govern­ment in­ter­ven­tions.

They made the res­o­lu­tion yes­ter­day at Ipole-Oko Orokam at a gen­eral congress dur­ing which a new na­tional lead­er­ship was con­sti­tuted for Opi­a­toha Oko, the um­brella na­tional body.

In a press state­ment emailed to Daily Trust on Sun­day signed by the Na­tional Pres­i­dent, Chief Joseph Obekpa, the congress drew del­e­gates from Abuja, Kaduna, Port Har­court, Awka, Lafia, Makurdi, Otukpo, Ug­bokolo and Okpo among oth­ers.

He em­pha­sized the need for peace with­out which no mean­ing­ful de­vel­op­ment can take place.

The new lead­er­ship has Chief Joseph Obekpa as Chair­man, Chief Ali Onche, 1st Vice Chair­man, Ojonugba Adikwu, 2nd Vice Chair­man, John Idoko Sec­re­tary-Gen­eral, Cle­ment Idoko, As­sis­tant Sec­re­tary-Gen­eral, Si­mon Onche, Fi­nan­cial Sec­re­tary, Doc­tor (Mrs) Rose Abah, Trea­surer, Igba Og­bole, Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer and Ochokam Onoja, Or­gan­is­ing Sec­re­tary.
