Ab­ducted Katsina coun­cil­lors re­gain free­dom af­ter 26 days in cap­tiv­ity

The two coun­cil­lors from Safana Lo­cal gov­ern­ment area in Katsina State, who were ab­ducted about 26 days ago, have re­gained free­dom.

The coun­cil­lors, Hus­saini Wan­zam ( fi­nance) and Bishir Dan Jikko (wa­ter and san­i­ta­tion) were ab­ducted on their way to Bat­sari town af­ter close of work. The cap­tives asked for N50 mil­lion for their re­lease.

Daily Trust on Sun­day gath­ered that money was paid be­fore the coun­cil­lors were re­leased.

How­ever, the Chair­man of Safana Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Coun­cil, Abba Safana, who con­firmed their re­lease was silent on whether ran­som was paid or not.

He said what mat­ters most was that they were re­leased.
