Abducted Katsina councillors regain freedom after 26 days in captivity
The two councillors from Safana Local government area in Katsina State, who were abducted about 26 days ago, have regained freedom.
The councillors, Hussaini Wanzam ( finance) and Bishir Dan Jikko (water and sanitation) were abducted on their way to Batsari town after close of work. The captives asked for N50 million for their release.
Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that money was paid before the councillors were released.
However, the Chairman of Safana Local Government Council, Abba Safana, who confirmed their release was silent on whether ransom was paid or not.
He said what matters most was that they were released.
