I didn’t boo Buhari during budget presentation – Melaye

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District Dino Melaye has said that he was not present at the 2019 budget presentation of President Muhammadu Buhari on December 19, 2018 let alone to boo the president.

Daily Trust on Sunday recalls that some lawmakers of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) jeered the president during the budget presentation, interrupting the event, a development that made the president to caution them.

However, some lawmakers of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) countered by cheering the president.

Since then, there have been speculations that Melaye was the one that led the booing.

But the Kogi senator said those peddling the rumours that he was among lawmakers that jeered President Buhari lied against him, challenging them to bring proof that he was at the event.

The senator said in a statement by his media, Gideon Ayodele, that he had refrained from commenting on the rumours but that they were becoming too much.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye was absent at the televised 2019 Budget Presentation session and hereby challenges anyone with contrary proof to come forward with such,” the statement added.
