Gana dares SDP, convenes stakeholders summit

- By Muideen Olaniyi

Prof. Jerry Gana has convened a stakeholders’ summit attended by some state chairmen and candidates of Social Democratic Party (SDP) contrary to the party’s directives.

Speaking at the summit yesterday in Abuja, Prof. Gana said the event was organised despite efforts made to stop people from attending. He said the meeting was aimed at ensuring coordinated campaigns by presidential, governorship and legislative candidates at all levels of government.

He said the summit was necessary to ensure that all candidates across the country understood SWIFT agenda and campaigned together to achieve victories.

The Director General, Professor Jerry Gana Presidential Campaign Team (G19), Dr Ike Neliaku, said the group would stand by any member suspended for associating with them.

The Edo State SDP Chairman, Collins Orerua, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues that attended the summit, said they stood with the SDP and Prof. Gana because both the APC and PDP could not take Nigeria to any new level having tried the two political parties.

It would be recalled that the SDP leadership had appealed an Abuja Federal High Court ruling that declared Prof. Gana the authentic presidential candidate of the party in place of Donald Duke who won the primary election for allegedly violating the zoning arrangements.

The SDP National Chairman, Chief Olu Falae, was absent at the summit despite the invitation earlier extended to him by G19.
