SPN backs labour on planned strike over minimum wage
The Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN) FCT Chapter has asked the federal government to stop spending huge sums of money on political office holders and implement the N30,000 minimum wage for workers.
The party said if the government could also stop the “dubious contract system” there would be enough resources to take care of the basic needs of workers and even industrialize the country.
The SPN in a statement yesterday by its FCT Chairman, Comrade Sadare Oladimeji Macaulay, said it was in total support of the planned strike action by the organised labour over government’s failure to implement the wage.
“The party insists that privatization will not solve Nigeria’s problems. We are totally in support of nationalization of assets and increased public funding on infrastructure with democratic management, controlled by elected representative of workers, youth and community leaders,” the party said.
