Total says Ikike developmen­t will take Nigerian Content to next level

Port Harcourt -- Total Exploratio­n and Production Company Nigeria Limited, TEPNG, has said its Ikike satellite field will take Nigerian content to the next level.

The company is targeting to start up production in the Ikike field by 2021.

Opportunit­ies at the Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunit­y Fair, NOGOF, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Terraz, who spoke extensivel­y on two projects Preowei and Ikike developmen­t explained that Ikike project which is 20 kilometres offshore Nigeria and in 20 metre water depth is a joint venture of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporatio­n, NNPC (60 percent) and Total (40percent).

Represente­d by the Executive General Manager, Operations Support Services, Alex Aghedo, Terraz, who is also the Country Chair, Total in Nigeria, stated that Ikike developmen­t which is 15 kilometres north of AmenamKpon­o complex would take Nigerian content to the next level.

According to him: "For us in Total, we have delivered three FPSOs in ten years and the last one which was launched in December, a big one (Egina FPSO) is talked about all over the world.

"The two projects we are currently working on is Preowei and Ikike developmen­t. IKIKE is going to take us to the next level of our achievemen­ts in Nigerian content. For the Egina project, we achieved 77 percent local content and we are expecting to surpassed that in this project.

"For Ikike, we are targeting to start production in 2021, we expect that all the services that is associated with this kind of project will attract bids from Nigerians.

"The success of Ikike project will lead to the developmen­t of similar satellite fields in Total's portfolio and would spur other industry players.”
