NERC says MAP to gather momentum from August 1
Lagos -- The Nigerian Electricity Regulation Commission, NERC, has said the Metering Assets Providers, MAP, programme will see more serious implementation from August 1.
In a series of tweets on its official Twitter hand, @NERCNG, it said necessary
arrangements were being concluded to make the plan a reality.
According to the regulator, it will monitor implementation through regular reporting from the MAP and power distribution companies on deployment and implementation. It said regular visits will be made “to confirm actual installation of meters”. The implementation of MAP started on May 1, 2019.
Two payment options provided are upfront and installmental but the emphasis for now is on upfront payment, NERC said.
“Electricity customers are advised to visit their Discos for details on how to get meters through MAPs,” the commission stated.
