Nigeria imports 19,994MT of cooking gas from US - PPPRA

Dublin, Ireland -- The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, has disclosed that 27.26 per cent of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG, also known as cooking gas, supplied in the country in May 2021, was imported from the United States.

In its report for LPG and propane supplies in the month under review, the PPPRA noted that 19,994.304 metric tonnes of LPG in a vacuum, MT VAC, was imported into the country, all from the US, in May, dropping by 78.42 per cent, compared with 92,643.181 MT VAC of LPG imported in April 2021.

In general, 73,325.758 MT VAC of LPG was supplied in the country in

May, dropping by 46.75 per cent from 137,697.735 MT VAC recorded in April 2021.

Giving a breakdown of imported LPG in the month under review, the PPPRA stated that NIPCO and Prudent Energy and Services Limited imported 1,555.271 MT VAC and 5,700.983 MT VAC of LPG from the US, respective­ly, with the products arriving May 2 and May 8, 2021, separately; while on May 16 and 29, 6,499.440 MT VAC and 6,238.610 MT VAC of LPG were imported from the US by Matrix Energy and NIPCO, respective­ly.
