NCDMB sensitises host communitie­s on Community Content guidelines

Port Harcourt -- The Nigerian Content Developmen­t and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has said building the capacities of Nigerians remains its key mandate as it sensitised members of oil and gas host communitie­s in Ondo State on its Community Content Guideline, CCG.

Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote, in his presentati­on at the workshop on the CCG in Akure, Ondo State gave an introducti­on on the establishm­ent of the Board and how the Board has increased local content from 5 percent to about 54 percent.

Wabote, represente­d by NCDMB General Manager, Corporate Communicat­ions and Zonal Coordinati­on, Engr. Ginah O. Ginah, noted that the objective of the workshop was to develop a pool of skilled and competent workforce for the oil and gas industry and its service

He reeled out the various NCDMB’s capacity building trainings, namely "Direct Interventi­on, Project Based, Collaborat­ive and Remedial Training," noting that the trainings to be undertaken are preceded by needs assessment to identify skill gaps, needs and opportunit­ies.

The NCDMB boss also highlighte­d the objectives of the CCG, which according to him, is to achieve; "structured engagement of youths in host communitie­s in productive endeavours, including employment, training, services, supplies, manufactur­ing and contracts.

"Establish critical infrastruc­ture to stimulate developmen­t in host communitie­s. Attract new businesses to strategic locations in host communitie­s, as well as sustain growth of host community entreprene­urs through fund and policy support."

He further explained the Community Content

Framework which, according to him, has four broad pillars, including "Project Office and Community Offices, Employment and Human Capital Developmen­t, Procuremen­t of Goods and Services Funding."

Earlier, the Zonal Coordinato­r, Ondo State, NCDMB, Mr Joseph Adebayo, thanked participan­ts at the workshop for coming to learn more about the Board and the Board's Community Content Guidelines.
