NDDC to complete cardiovascular, orthopedic hospital in Rivers NCDMB sustains push for STEM education

Lagos -- The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, says the Commission will partner with medical experts to run its Regional Specialist Cardiovascular and Orthopedic Hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, currently under construction.
Speaking after inspecting the Niger Delta Regional Specialist Hospital, Ogbuku assured that the project would be completed and fitted with the best medical equipment before the end of the year.
The managing director, who was accompanied by the Executive Director, Projects, Sir Victor Antai, and other directors of the Commission, explained that the health facility would also meet international standards, noting: “We need specialists who will work with us on this project.”
He stated: “President Bola Tinubu has given us the mandate to complete all legacy projects for the people of the
Niger Delta region and we are committed to ensuring that we discharge our responsibility in this regard.

Lagos -- The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, marked the close-out of the 2023 edition of its Science Quiz Competition for secondary schools in Bayelsa State at the Nigerian Content Tower, Yenagoa, with prizes for institutions and their students that emerged overall best.
Organised in partnership with the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, the competition is designed to stimulate interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, STEM, education among secondary school students and thus orientate them towards academic disciplines vital to the oil and gas with specialists that will put heads together to put finishing touches to what is on ground for proper services. We will not be able to handle that aspect and that is the reason we will industry operations.
In an address at the occasion, the Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, noted that the yearly competition, now in its 7th year, has come of age and that the performance of participating schools and students has improved appreciably. He commended the Quiz Master and the NTA as well for bring people with international pedigree to run the facility.”
Ogbuku, who noted the inherent dangers of cardiovascular disease and the rampant cases of accidents, said thoroughness in planning.
The NCDMB boss, who was represented by the General Manager of Corporate Communications and Zonal Coordination, Esueme Dan Kikile, Esq, said it was remarkable that female students participated in appreciable numbers and won prizes in the 2023 edition. the current NDDC board would put an end to the problem of abandoned projects in the Niger Delta region.
“This is a massive project and we will endeavoür to complete it for the benefit of the people of the region and other Nigerians,” he noted.
Briefing the managing director on the project, the Executive Director of Projects, Sir Antai, affirmed that the specialist hospital would have a direct impact on the lives of the people.
He observed that the hospital, with Orthopedic and Cardiovascular units, would deal with the correction of injuries to the skeletal system, associated muscles, joints, and ligaments, while the cardiovascular unit will treat heart problems, which were prevalent in the region.
