Delta State Ministry Of Health Gives Cash Awards To Deserving Staffs

- By Vivian Omotori

As part of measures to boost the morale of its staff for great productivity, the Delta State Ministry of Health has given cash and certificate awards to deserving eight members of Staff for their outstanding contributions to the improvement of services in the Ministry.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Oseji gave the awards today in her office during a brief ceremony of presentation of cash and certificate awards.

Dr. Oseji said the cash award of twenty-five thousand naira (N25, 000.00) and a certificate of staff of the year to each of the awardees is the Ministry’s way of saying thank you to them for their efforts and to also solicit their continual support in making sure that the services in the health sectors are bettered.

“I have been an advocate of high quality services and from my wealth of experience in the health sector I have come to the conclusion that in order to improve the h *ealth indices of African nations such as Nigeria, we must institute an efficient and quality monitoring and evaluation system that supports all players in the health system using verifiable indicators” she stated.

She also said that, “we must identify health workers who are doing well and motivate them financially and otherwise.”

“For those who had worked closely with me, you know how I take monitoring and evaluation seriously and not just for the sake of going to the field but most especially in documenting those data and making sure the findings are properly followed up” she added.

She said the above had become necessary because whatever efforts and milestones that may be achieved in the health sector such as infrastructure and the rest may not give the desired results hence the need to make sure that whatever is being done in the health sector is closely monitored and evaluated to ensure that one is on the right track for improving health indices. Responding on behalf of other awardees, Mr. Godswill Mmoye thanked the Permanent Secretary Dr. (Mrs.) Oseji for initiating such a laudable programme and added that no doubt it will boost staff performances.

He assured the Permanent Secretary that the awardees will not let her and the Ministry down and that they will continue to put in their best as they carry out their official duties.
