LASEPA Emerges As Cleanest MDA For Month Of April

Nigeria - The Lagos State Environmen­tal Protection Agency (LASEPA), has emerged as the cleanest establishm­ent in Lagos State Secretaria­t, Alausa, and the Old Secretaria­t complexes for April, after the just concluded appraisal of the environmen­tal status of all Ministries, Agencies and Department­s. A statement issued by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Environmen­tal Services, Mrs. Belinda Odeneye, added that the Civil Service Commission emerged as the first runner up while the Office of the Deputy Governor took the third position.

She explained that a thorough environmen­tal appraisal was carried out across all the 48 MDAs within the main secretaria­t and old secretaria­t complexes from Monday, 12th of April to Thursday, 15th of April, 2021 to select the winners.

The Permanent Secretary stated that Key Performanc­e Indicators (KPI) contained in the checklist developed by the Sanitation Services Department of the Ministry of the Environmen­t and Water Resources was used in the ratings. Mrs. Odeneye reiterated that in arriving at the winners, due cognisance was taken of how compliant the MDAs were in terms of hygiene and proper sanitation.

Recall that the monthly sanitation appraisal came into being by the approval contained in the HOS Circular with Ref No: CIR/HOS/024 dated 23rd March, 2021.

The competitio­n, which is expected to be a monthly affair, was initiated to encourage healthy environmen­tal competitio­n amongst the MDAs.
